Tuition

Private tuition for students from Key Stage 3 through to undergraduate level, across UK and international curricula

Rebecca’s teaching is informed by an interdisciplinary academic background, providing both strong subject knowledge and a detailed understanding of curricula and exam board specifications. Students are fully supported in mastering content and applying their knowledge confidently in preparation for high-stakes examinations, including GCSEs, A Levels, and the IB Diploma Programme.

Equal emphasis is placed on broader academic development. Lessons are designed to foster curiosity and deepen conceptual understanding, encouraging students to question ideas, engage with different perspectives, and make connections across subjects. This approach nurtures a genuine love of learning beyond the classroom while strengthening flexible and analytical thinking.

At Key Stage 3, this interdisciplinary foundation is particularly important. It establishes the transferable skills required for more advanced study, including structured writing, critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent learning, all of which underpin long-term academic success across subjects and levels.

Undergraduate

At undergraduate level, Rebecca works with students in Geography and related disciplines, with a focus on subject development, academic writing and dissertation support.

For subjects outside Rebecca’s specialist areas, support may be offered through a small network of trusted tutors, ensuring continuity of quality and oversight.

Students working with Rebecca towards A-Level or IB Diploma often continue to benefit from guidance through the university application process, supporting them in navigating next steps with clarity and confidence

UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS

“I can’t recommend Rebecca highly enough. From 10th to 12th grade (Year 11 to Year 13), she guided my daughters through the IB program with expert tutoring in English, Extended Essay, and overall academic support. She struck the perfect balance of challenge and encouragement, always attentive, supportive, and deeply invested in their success. We would not have navigated the IB or university process without her. The girls achieved very high IB scores (40+) and are attending their first choice university. Thank you Rebecca!”

Mentoring

One-to-one mentoring focused on study structure, independent learning and academic confidence

Rebecca provides structured, individualised support designed to help students develop greater independence and confidence in their learning. The focus is not only on immediate academic demands, but on building the habits and understanding that support learning over time.

Rebecca tailors sessions to the individual and may include:

  • Establishing effective study routines and independent learning habits

  • Planning and structuring essays and extended assignments

  • Managing workload across subjects and deadlines

  • Coordinating revision in a clear and sustainable way

  • Applying feedback to strengthen and develop work

  • Building motivation, confidence and engagement with learning

Mentoring is particularly valuable at points where students feel overwhelmed, stuck, or less confident in their academic work. Support may include re-establishing structure, developing strategies to manage distractions such as social media, and helping students navigate periods of academic pressure with greater clarity and balance.

This provision is well suited to students preparing for external examinations, balancing multiple subjects alongside coursework, or working through demanding academic periods.

Mentoring may be offered as a standalone service or alongside subject tuition, depending on the student’s needs

Homeschooling

Bespoke academic programmes and tutor coordination for students pursuing alternative educational pathways

Rebecca is especially passionate about supporting students in home-education settings, where learning can be shaped in a highly personalised and responsive way that fosters a sustained love of learning.

Programmes are individually designed, drawing on specialist expertise in curriculum design and assessment to ensure clear progression and alignment with examination requirements, while remaining flexible to each student’s context, pace of learning, and wider circumstances.

Support is provided for students educated outside mainstream schooling, including those requiring a more flexible approach due to wellbeing, medical, or personal circumstances. Where students have experienced extended absence from school, including periods of hospitalisation, provision can be arranged with care and sensitivity to support re-engagement with learning.

This support can also play an important role at transition points: for students who wish to return to school when the time is right, or for those continuing in longer-term home education, helping to maintain confidence and engagement across different pathways.

The focus is on sustaining an intellectually engaging learning experience, encouraging curiosity alongside academic development, and ensuring that progression is shaped by the learner rather than constrained by non-linear educational journeys. Where appropriate, this may also involve coordinating a wider team of tutors to ensure well-aligned support across subjects.

Support for Dual-Career Students

Rebecca works with students combining academic study with high-performance commitments in areas such as sport and the performing arts.

Her background as both an academic and a professional actor informs a nuanced understanding of these environments, enabling support that balances structured academic progress with demanding external schedules.

Enrichment & Educational Excursions

For students following home-based or bespoke programmes, learning may be extended through carefully selected curriculum-linked excursions that deepen subject understanding and bring academic content into real-world contexts.

These experiences are designed to complement and extend study, supporting intellectual curiosity and broader academic engagement.

Homeschooling provision is often supported through ongoing academic mentoring and guidance

MENTORING

“She designed a full two-year curriculum for my son, who is homeschooled while pursuing a professional badminton career. Rebecca ensures that all the areas of the syllabus are covered, whilst allowing him to explore every aspect of any topic they are covering; nothing is too difficult, too much trouble or too far beyond the syllabi; plus, every single lesson is immaculately planned. Rebecca not only teaches multiple subjects (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Georgraphy) but also coordinates a team of tutors, ensuring every lesson in my son’s homeschooling program is stimulating and of the highest standard.”

Learning & Assessment Support

Advisory focused on understanding individual learning profiles and identifying effective academic strategies to support progress

Rebecca’s approach centres on recognising how students learn most effectively, identifying potential barriers to progress, and advising on suitable approaches across subjects and stages of education.

Where relevant, guidance may also be provided on examination access arrangements and additional provisions, ensuring students are able to engage with learning and assessment on equitable terms.

This provision extends to students with identified or suspected special educational needs (SEN), including dyslexia, ADHD, and students on the autism spectrum. The emphasis is on ensuring that appropriate strategies and adjustments are considered within the wider academic context, supporting sustainable progress and learner confidence.

Where appropriate, onward referral to specialist services may be recommended to support further assessment and provision.

This service may, where appropriate, be integrated with mentoring to ensure consistent application of strategies in day-to-day study

MENTORING

“Diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, our child struggled with writing and confidence despite being an avid reader. Rebecca quickly recognised their learning needs and tailored her approach to suit them. She made writing engaging, helping them gain confidence and independence.”

University Admissions Advisory

Advisory support for students applying to highly competitive UK and international universities and courses, including Oxbridge, Medicine and Ivy League institutions.

A key focus of Rebecca’s work is supporting UK-based and international students in their transition to higher education. This includes guidance through the university admissions process. Her postgraduate research examined how UK university admissions function as a form of assessment and influence student aspirations, motivation, and self-efficacy, providing a research-informed foundation for her expertise in supporting students through high-stakes application processes.

Her practice focuses on helping students develop a strong academic profile and present themselves effectively across all stages of the application process, including written submissions, admissions assessments, and interviews. Where appropriate, this may also include support with supercurricular engagement and academic enrichment aligned to course expectations.

For applications extending beyond her direct subject specialisms, Rebecca collaborates with a carefully selected network of tutors and advisors to ensure students receive appropriate additional expertise. This approach ensures coherent, high-quality guidance across the full application profile.

Admissions Assessments & Interviews

Rebecca has a background in educational assessment, with experience in the design and evaluation of high-stakes examinations. This informs her approach to admissions tests and interviews, particularly in relation to reasoning-based formats that assess how candidates apply knowledge, interpret information and make judgements under time constraints.

Her work spans a range of competitive admissions assessments, including UCAT, LNAT, ESAT and TARA, with a focus on the cognitive and evaluative demands these formats place on candidates.

Interview preparation is approached through the development of clear subject understanding, structured articulation of ideas and the ability to think and respond effectively in real time under evaluative conditions.

Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Medicine

Rebecca specialises in supporting students applying to Medicine, Dentistry & Veterinary Medicine with a focus on highly competitive UK medical school applications. This includes preparation for the UCAT, as well as targeted preparation for both Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) and traditional panel interviews.

Support may also extend to securing relevant medical work experience, alongside guidance on how to engage effectively in clinical environments and reflect on experience in a way that meaningfully strengthens the overall application.

She also supports graduate-entry Medicine applicants, including preparation for the GAMSAT where required.

US Admissions

Work with students applying to US universities centres on shaping coherent academic and extracurricular profiles and presenting them effectively across the application process.

This includes guidance on personal statements and supplemental essays, academic positioning, standardised testing (SAT/ACT where applicable) and interview preparation where required

Admissions support may also extend into preparation for university-level study

HIGHER EDUCATION TRANSITION

“Rebecca supported my daughter in her successful application to Cambridge to study Natural Sciences. As she was educated in an international school system, Rebecca’s guidance was essential in helping us understand both the admissions process and what universities are looking for in candidates. Her input strengthened her confidence throughout UCAS, personal statement development, admissions tests, and interviews.”

Higher Education Transition

(Secondary → University)

Support for students preparing to move from school to university-level study

Rebecca supports students in making the transition to higher education by helping them adapt to the expectations of independent undergraduate study. The focus is on developing effective approaches to learning at university level, including critical reading, academic writing, and managing workload without close guidance.

Sessions also address the shift in academic expectations, helping students become comfortable with more analytical and self-managed forms of study required in higher education.

This support is suitable for students preparing for university study across a wide range of subjects and course types, including competitive applications such as medicine and other academically demanding programmes.

Where appropriate, it can build on earlier admissions preparation and continue as part of ongoing academic mentoring

UNIVERSITY ADMISSIONS ADVISORY

“Rebecca supported me throughout my A-levels, during the university application process and beyond with university level academic essay writing. Her help has been truly invaluable. I highly recommend her.”
